About Us
Summer 2011 UPDATE: It has been another year- and even more changes have landed at the Hill House. In case anyone needs a quick recap of where we were a year ago, or 3 years ago, you can look below at the older about us posts. But- if you interested in the current “state of affairs”, this should sum it up!
Our family is now 5 strong.

Bryson is FIVE

Sawyer is TWO (and living up to every part of it)

And Kinley is four months

After taking a year off for research and some much needed family time, I am (still) slugging through my general surgery residency. Dave is still working from home for the bug folks out of the Pentagon (top secret stuff, can’t say any more about it or we will have to lock you up in a scary little room).

I just stumbled upon the “about us” page on our blog. Geez- nothing on there is right. It might be time to update this section. My bad. I guess if you subtract out a dog and the cat and add in a BABY, a major move (to Atlanta), a new job (although I still feel like I am playing doctor most of the time, I do have 2 extra letters on my name and I get the honor of working ~ 80 hours a week as a surgery resident at Emory), a new house, and a few new “worry lines” and spider veins…that pretty much sums things up.
Here are some favorite pictures of the family from the past year.
Sawyer Lyman Hill- age 9 months
Bryson Andrew Hill- age 3.5 years

————————Original ABOUT US——————————
After a significant amount of badgering, Dave has convinced me to keep a blog for our little family, the Hill’s. Admittedly, the arrival of a certain little someone (a.k.a. the Bean) was the real inspiration for this blog. After all, who (other than our moms) would want to read about the daily happenings in our mundane lives?? But add a baby into the mix, and now we have endless material for blogging.
For those who don’t know what a BLOG is…welcome to the 21st century! A blog is short for web-log…apparently saying the “we” in weblog took too much energy, so it got shortened to blog. Are we lazy or what??
Anyway- thats what this is. Now, who are we??? Basically, we are just a couple of twenty-somethings figuring out life and enjoying the beginning of our own little family. Dave is the foundation of our family…he works for the government as a computer engineer. Top Secret stuff, not allowed to say anything else! Seriously, I am not 100% sure exactly what he does for his job, but I know it involves a lot of technology and computer stuff. In addition to playing with electronic gizmos, Dave enjoys hiking and camping in Shenandoah. And then there is me, Sarah (maiden name Sarah Vignes). I have taken on the role of entertaining our friends and family as the primary blogger (at least for now). Currently, I spend my time wandering the hospital wards, pretending to be a doctor. I will graduate from GW medical school in May of 2007 and I’m planning to go in to surgery. So, much like a cameleon, I change my color based on my scenery…I am a medical student by day, and a wife/mom etc. by night. Easy enough! Admittedly, I am not very good at all of the stuff that a normal wife would do, but thats OK. I am comfortable with my lack of domestic skills.
Bryson is quite possibly the cutest little drooly baby ever (ok, maybe I am a little biased, but he is definitely in the running). He was born almost 4 weeks early, on August 25th, 2006. He started out a little on the small side (5lbs) , but has been steadily catching up. Of course, Bryson isn’t our only kiddo. Our first 3 babies are rather furry and all have red and white hair. Chase and Gracie are the two corgis. They bark too much, but they love to snuggle and are super swimmers/hikers. Despite all of their barking, they make me happy. Tiger, is the big red kitty. He is by far the most tolerant of all the baby noises and gear.
